Mental health charity, Imagine Independence, and the LFC Foundation are working together to encourage people to beat the blues and go RED this Blue Monday (21st January) by joining them for a brew at Imagine’s office on Hope Street. The 21st January has been claimed to be the most depressing day of the year – the date when the Christmas excitement has faded, new year’s resolutions have been broken, the cold weather has set in and credit card bills are landing on doorsteps, with the January payday still feeling far away. Dealing with challenges like these can have a significant…
Urbanista went along to enjoy a Goodfellas prison dinner, a feast at Bitter Social. Bitter Social is the latest hipster joint on the block, located within Liverpool’s oldest prison and Grade 2 listed building, The Bridewell. Originally constructed in 1857, the site was used as a Liverpool’s main lock up for 130 years. Tunnels still remain underneath the prison leading to the old courts at St. George’s Hall and to the docks. A place steeped in history, you might say! If you want to experience it you have to hurry, they’re only there until April! The venue is really stunning,…
I’ve got to admit, of all the press releases that hit the mailbox, a year ago one about Bros would have probably gone straight in the virtual bin – after all, I was way too cool to like Bros 😉 But the surprise Christmas tv hit “After the Screaming Stops” has renewed interest in the guys. With memorable spinal tapesque lines such as “I made a conscious decision because of Stevie Wonder to not be superstitious.” – were they being serious, or just a clever ruse to get those of us who weren’t fans to take an interest in the…
Last year was my first Bearded Theory. I’d always heard a lot of good things about it but never got around to trying it out for myself, but with my usual festival Glastonbury having a year off, it seemed the perfect time to check it out. They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day and its clear this ethos runs deep at Grand Central Food Bazaar’s breakfast offer CouCou Canard. Open from 7am daily CouCou Canard is serving up the tastiest breakfasts in the city. We checked out the menu at brunch time on Sunday, each ingredient is locally sourced and the attention to detail is notable. We started our morning with a coffee, my friend opted for a Soy Latte while I chose a Cappuccino, and both were delicious giving us a much needed caffeine boost while we checked out the food…
