Pop-up food and drink pairing venue Bitter Social is encouraging scousers to say “Ti amo” to their loved ones this Valentine’s Day during a special Italian-themed dinner.

The restaurant has teamed up with artisanal Italian vermouth company Mancino to host a four-course food and drink pairing evening – From Mancino, with Love – with European Ambassador Domenico Carella.

Guests will be taken on a journey through the world of vermouth – a wine fortified with brandy or other spirits and aromatised with herbs and botanicals – by international drinks expert Domenico whilst enjoying three courses of romance-laden Italian food.

Novice or expert – this will be a romantic evening and the food and drink is set to be delicious either way.

Later on in the evening guests can enjoy Vermouth cocktails and oysters – one of the world’s most effective aphrodisiacs!

Bitter Social co-owner Victoria Charlton said: “The origins of Valentine’s Day lie in the Roman Empire hence why we chose to team up with Mancino for our special event.

“Italians know good food and good drink, and we are so lucky to have Domenico join us for the evening – it’s certainly not one to miss if you want to be in your partner’s good books!”

Bitter Social has a noticeable nod to Italy – including their hand-painted tables commissioned by another Italian drinks company – Amaro Montenegro.

The evening starts at 7pm with welcome drinks, and guests will be seated by 7.30pm for food and drink to be served.

    Valentine’s Day Menu:

    • 1st course – Cured meat and radicchio bread sticks, olives, polenta sandwiches (Vegetarian/vegan option available)
    • 2nd course – Roasted red pepper, deep fried Boccherini OR Deep-fried banana blossom (vv)
    • 3rd course – Lentils, mostarda, Italian sausage OR Black pudding (vv)
    • 4th course – Aubergine, honey and ricotta (Vegetarian/vegan option available)

Tickets are £90 per couple (£45pp), and later on in the evening Vermouth cocktails and oysters will be available to purchase.

Places are limited, so to book a table visit the evening’s Eventbrite page here.
