Pop-up food and drink pairing venue Bitter Social is inviting guests to eat like a wiseguy at a Goodfellas-themed New Years’ Eve dinner.

The evening is in homage to the classic film’s prison dinner scene, as Bitter Social is located on the first floor of Liverpool’s oldest prison in the city’s Ropewalks area.
The 1990 movie starring Robert De Niro and Ray Liotta is considered one of the greatest films of all time, having been emulated and admired ever since its release.

Guests can live like Goodfellas enjoying a three-course indulgent Italian feast within the walls of the former Bridewell prison, all washed down with perfectly paired drinks and a special boozy extra to finish.

Bridewell Prison was constructed in 1857-1859 by Corporation Surveyor John Weightman, and was originally designed as a police station and courts complex for the Corporation of Liverpool.
It housed inmates detained for court appearances and short sentences , and is now a Grade-II listed building and home to both Bitter Social and Furnival’s Well.
Bitter Social co-owner Victoria Charlton said: “After much debate over which theme our New Years’ Eve dinner should take, it became very clear that the answer was staring us in the face.

“Being situated on the first floor of Liverpool’s oldest prison and being fans of Goodfellas, it was a no-brainer.

“Guests will enjoy an evening of indulgence in comfortable, friendly surroundings – not one to be missed!”

The bar has a noticeable nod to Italy – including their hand-painted tables commissioned by Italian drinks company Amaro Montenegro.

Bookings can be made between 6.30pm and 8.30pm, so whether you’re looking to line your stomachs pre-party, or call in the new year with the Bitter Social team, this is a perfect opportunity to indulge.

    Bitter Social Tables and Dining

For just £30 per person for three courses, and £20 per person for additional drinks pairings, this is a great opportunity to enjoy food to rival Paulie’s prison masterpiece.
So slick your hair back, dust off your sharpest suits and head down to Bitter Social for a night that will leave you thinking: “As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a gangster.”

Places are limited, so to book a table visit the evening’s Eventbrite page here.
