There’s making an entrance and then there’s MAKING AN ENTRANCE — new restaurant, bar and events venue, District House, has burst onto the Liverpool scene with exuberance and the red carpet grand opening was testament to that. Situated on Water Street, on the site that used to be Newz Bar and the Amanzi, District House is the new hot spot for drinking, dining and hosting events and a lavish launch party was an introduction to remember. A creation of Know Restaurants Water St Directors, Andrew Duckworth and Steven Hesketh, District House has created 60 jobs and seen over £1million invested so why not celebrate in spectacular style?
I was honoured to attend on behalf of Urbanista and was quite bowled over by the hospitality — there were people in abundance at this who’s who of Liverpool event but service was not sacrificed in the slightest. I was greeted with a red carpet at the doors and a glass of violet prosecco as I surveyed the huge open plan space inside. With light wood furniture, fixtures and fittings, leaved wall paper, plants and a large bar, the first section of the venue was clean, crisp and fresh. As I mingled and made my way to the back of the building, the vastness was noticeable as hundreds enjoyed the complimentary wine, gin, beer and gourmet canapes. Acoustic covers were being played live by a very talented duet and there was a real buzz and excitement in the air about this new place to be.
By the time my guest arrived to join me for the night of extravagance, the party was in full swing! Following a speech from co-owner Steven Hesketh, we were treated to a Michael Jackson dancing display, a powerful vocal performance from talented singer Anton Stephans and a DJ set from Zafari. My guest and I gratefully accepted the alcohol on offer whilst indulging in the mouthwatering canapes being served — teriyaki chicken wings, pulled pork sliders and cream cheese jalapenos were my favourites of all the delights. As the night progressed it was clear to me that District House will be a huge success and somewhere to live the high life in our cultured city. The event culminated in a flamboyant drum and saxophone display and by the time I left there was a real fiesta feeling throughout the venue.
District House has been created as a place to serve the local district, offering a place to meet, relax, do business or celebrate when the work is done and at Urbanista we are excited to be part of its integration into the city. The multi-functional venue is somewhere to kick back and enjoy coffee, brunch or drinks in the cocktail lounge, but it is also somewhere to dine or host and event — with space for up to 350 for dinner or up to 600 for a reception or event. The exclusive VIP mezzanine also offers a range of private dining options for guests so whatever you are looking for be sure to consider the new District House when looking for class and style.
