Africa Oyé takeover YARD for full day of DJs and Selectors

The sounds of Africa Oyé will be starting in Liverpool a little earlier than scheduled this year, when the cornerstone of Liverpool’s cultural calendar takes over YARD for a full day’s line-up of DJs and selectors.

Kicking off at 1pm on Saturday 25th May, the outdoor bar situated in the heart of Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle, will play host to an eclectic range of DJs and selectors, some direct from the Africa Oyé team and others who have regularly played or supported the annual free festival of music and culture.

Revelers will be able to enjoy the sun (hopefully), choose from the fine selection of cocktails on offer – as well as the increasingly popular YARD Ale – and enjoy sets from the likes of Spykatcha, Richie Vegas (Beaten Tracks DJs), Lord Borthbury, Mellowtone DJs and even Africa Oyé’s Artistic Director, Paul Duhaney.

For those in it for the long-haul, the Africa Oyé Takeover at YARD will run in to the May edition of the Reggae Social next door at District. The monthly party, showcasing and celebrating the best in reggae, ska, rocksteady, roots and dub is hosted by Positive Vibration and will run from 8pm into the night.

Paul Duhaney said “Oyé’s DJ line-up has become one of the stand-out highlights of the festival each year and it’s brilliant that we can showcase some of the sounds that our audience can expect to hear on the two DJ stages in June at an event like this one at YARD. Oyé and the Baltic Triangle go way back to the days of The Picket and we feel like it’s our home away from Sefton Park; it’s going to be a day of really good vibes.”
