As food halls pop up across the cosmos, Liverpool presents the hippie-tastic Grand Central Food Bazaar.

Steeped in History, The Grand Central Hall was one of the first Cinema’s in Liverpool, it has also been home to Rawhide comedy club, Quiggins arcade and the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. These days, the former methodist church holds a hotel, the Grand Central Hall and plays host to a variety of Food vendors, and bars in their Grand Central Food Bazaar, located downstairs in the magnificent building.

Grand Central, was once the brainchild of local entrepreneur Bob Burns who created the Gaudi inspired Barcelona Bar as well as over 30 other Liverpool establishments. It now boasts 14 food vendors that cater to all pallette’s and dietary requirements, with food served restaurant style, with cuisine presented on plates, with cutlery.

Here’s a selection to tantalise your tastebuds!

Shanks is an independent food concept, created by 2 friends Daniel and Craig, who met at Catering college. Their aim is to give affordable, restaurant quality food made with the best food cooking techniques and presented with a fine dining element. Daniel says “The beauty of a pop up restaurant is that you can be ever evolving.”

Cousins, Mark and John created Champagne and Fromage in 2011, originally intended as a pop up in Covent Garden, growing to 4 London restaurants and 1 in Bath, they have now brought their luxury artisan concept to Liverpool. Champagne and Fromage specialise in sourcing their own cheeses and charcuterie’s direct from small producers in France, and are well known for their artisan grower champagne. What’s better than Cheese and Champagne please?

Chopsticks bring asian food with a difference! With a background working in restaurants, they chose Asian due to personal preference.  From Thai to Japanese, they’ve set out to offer something for everyone! Small plates include tempura trawns and crispy tofu. Larger plates like Salt n Pepper honey chicken, Pad Thai, Siu Mai are all customer favourites. Buy 4 small plates for just £17 and receive a colourful platter of well presented dim sum. Sushi and Specials are offered every weekend. Kob-khun ka!

A team of 4 friends bore the Homeslice idea, with 2 things in mind, ethics and great pizza! With a background in Dominos they knew they had the expertise to create awesome pizzas, coupled with their vegan morals, meaning that not just the food is animal free but also their cleaning products, staff uniforms, packaging, everything! They also make all their own plant based dough! Catch them on the second floor of the Grand Central Food Bazaar.
