Former Michigan DJ turned Houston-based indie creative artist returns with a heartfelt and humorous tribute to his home state in the new video for Smitten by The Mitten.
Blending nostalgia, humour and storytelling, Smitten by The Mitten reflects on the artist’s youth growing up in Michigan — celebrating the state’s unforgettable landscapes, changing seasons, wildlife, local fruits and unmistakable atmosphere. Packed with affection for the Midwest whilst delivering a playful swipe at neighbouring Ohio, the track captures the warmth and personality of Michigan culture through an independent and unconventional lens.
Whilst primarily known for writing comedy, poetry and film projects, the artist has steadily built a following through offbeat and character-driven creative releases, including the cult favourite I Love the Fat Chicks, helping cement their reputation as a true independent voice unafraid to do things differently.
Speaking about the release, the artist describes Smitten by The Mitten as:
“A longing look back to one’s youth and all the wonderful sights and smells. The fruits, animals, seasons and landscapes.”
With charm, humour and genuine heart running throughout, Smitten by The Mitten feels both deeply personal and universally relatable to anyone who’s ever felt nostalgic for home.
