The Influences, Goals, And Advice of World Renowned Musician Kurt Rosenberg

From producing the Highland Home Film, to the number of international film festivals that selected his short film, and the honors he earned at those festivals, are among the highlights of his music career. It is evident that Kurt Rosenberg has always had a gift.

Kurt is a composer, songwriter, film producer, and world- renowned musician. At the young age of 12, Kurt inherited a love and passion for music. At such a young age, he taught himself how to play the piano and went on to write music in highschool.

The musician has quite diverse music of his own, spanning a wide range of genres. Celtic, Pop, 40’s Ballroom, 50’s Jazz, and Film Music are some of the genres Kurt creates in. His music expresses a new feeling, concept, or message with each composition. His aim is to write tunes that have an emotional impact and are unforgettable.

“My dream is to hear folks singing, or humming, one of my songs after they’ve heard it in a movie or on TV. That would be so gratifying!” Kurt expresses.

Having exposure growing up such as listening to Celtic Music from Scotland and Ireland, it influenced Kurt and his compositions, leading to the inspiration for writing the melody and lyrics for his ode to Scotland: the original song, “Highland Home.”

Kurt is a Member of both Clan Scott Scotland and the Scottish Music Industry Association (SMIA), and a Patron of Scottish Heritage USA. Future projects include refining the music and lyrics for his original musical “For the Lack of Laura,” and producing a music video for “The Moon Followed Me to Falmouth,” a song reminiscent of old sea shanties from the British Isles.

Composing music and creating songs are two of Kurt’s favorite passions. He has a process in which he explains “To compose a piece of music or a song, I sit down at my keyboard and just start playing. If I am lucky, I’ll chance upon, what I call, a “musical moment” … some snippets of a new melody will stand out.” The melody is then expanded upon, and he listens to how it sounds as it develops. After Kurt has settled on a melody, he begins to arrange the music, both in terms of arrangement and whatever instruments best suit the song’s mood. This is when he composes and polishes the lyrics for a song he is working on.

While Kurt can write a melody in a day, getting the arrangement down generally takes many days. Kurt only releases the best exclaiming “If I deem the song listenable, I’ll share it with family, friends, and sometimes, the world.”

Being a credible composer and musician, Kurt explains that there are three things needed in order to be a successful one. First is the given, a composer/musician must be gifted. A good lyricist, vocalist, or musician is required of the composer. Because the music industry is so competitive, a composer must stand out. Second, a composer must be disciplined in his or her work. This implies they must work on their music on a daily basis. If a composer wants to be successful, they must treat it like a career rather than a hobby. Finally, having a basic grasp of business, public relations, and marketing is beneficial. Kurt explains that it’s a competitive world out there, and a composer’s and their music’s visibility is critical.

“Hone your craft …. practice, practice, practice!  If you are a composer, compose what you love.  Don’t let anyone tell you that your music isn’t good enough. It is just their opinion.  If you have a passion for your music, there will be listeners out there that will gravitate towards it. Find your Musical Niche!” Kurt encourages.

Kurt’s ultimate dream is to become a world most prominent composer/songwriter, who is restoring melody to music and he’s already decided on a moniker for himself to help create his brand: Melody Maestro. And for Kurt’s fanbase, Melody Apostles would be the name given to his fans, and most importantly creating special ties and connections with those fans.

Aside from creating, Kurt is a humanitarian supporting causes such as The Oregon Humane Society, The Oregon Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity. Special Olympics, and Friends of the Columbia Gorge.

To follow Kurts journey, you can keep updated on his Twitter. Kurt regularly informs his fans on projects that he is working on with the occasional estimate of when a project will be released. Kurt sends out teasers on he social media platforms, so you don’t want to miss out.
